She draws, paints, sketches and plays with colors to deal with stressful situations as it provides her with a sense of relief.

This work on the picture is based on the hundred attributes of God in Arabic. Muslims call it ‘Asma-ul-husna’. In dark and hopeless situations, the one who makes things right is called ‘Al-Wakil’.

The ancient city is the historic center of Damascus, Syria. This quarter is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world.

Marina

Marina Alyeyeva - Ukraine Petrykivka paintings

After coming to the Netherlands, Marina, who has a background as an interior designer, decided to bring her Ukrainian culture here. Her works represent Ukrainian folk-art, but in her personal style. Its main ingredients are a colourful and cheerful palette, positive energy, and joy. “After the war started, I decided to dive into my culture and discovered the magic of my nation. Despite the hard times, Ukrainian folk-art is all about positive energy, gratitude to nature and a desire to live and love.”

Currently Maryna gives workshops in De Stookkamer in Haarlem. Here people can learn a special technique called Petrykivka, using gouache.
